Wimbledon Removals

About us

We organised the firm the way the place is organised

Everybody who lives in SW19 knows there are two Wimbledons. Almost no removals firm behaves as though there are, and the gap between those two facts is where quotes fall apart.

Why the hill, and not the bedrooms

A room count tells you roughly how much there is. It tells you nothing at all about whether you can get a vehicle to the door, whether the sofa will make the turn, or whether the managing agent will let anybody into the building before the paperwork is in.

In most of London those questions have broadly similar answers across a postcode. In SW19 they have opposite answers a mile apart. Up the hill the problem is almost always physical — the lane, the gate, the gravel, the distance. Down the hill it is almost always procedural — the bay suspension, the lift booking, the certificate the agent wants.

So we ask that first. It gets us to a quote that holds much faster than working through a room count would.

What we do differently as a result

We survey the approach, not only the property. On a Village lane that means driving it before quoting and saying plainly whether a large vehicle will turn. On a Ridgway drive it means measuring the actual carrying distance rather than assuming the van reaches the door. In the town it means asking who the managing agent is and dealing with them ourselves.

We also measure the turn on the half-landing rather than the doorway, because that is what actually defeats furniture, and we would far rather tell you something will not go while there is still time to decide what happens instead.

The fortnight

We check every enquiry against the Championships period as a matter of routine. On the park side it genuinely changes what is possible, and it is much easier to move a date than to move a road closure. Nobody should find that out after they have booked.

Where we work

The whole of Wimbledon, and the parts of Merton that surround it.

Wimbledon Village · Wimbledon Town · The Ridgway · Wimbledon Common · South Wimbledon · Wimbledon Park · Haydons Road · Southfields · Raynes Park · Merton Park · Colliers Wood · Morden · Putney Vale

What we are not

Not a national brand with a local number, and not a comparison site. Your quote request comes to us, and the person who reads it is the person who plans the job.

We have no awards or press coverage to show you, and we are not going to invent any. If that changes we will say so and show you the source.

Tell us which end of the hill you are on

The Village, the Ridgway and Common edge, the Town, or the Park and Southfields side. That answer tells us what the constraint is, and the constraint is what the quote is really about.
